5 exciting new outdoor spaces for Spring 2021

It’s less than two weeks until outdoor hospitality opens up again and groups of up to six are allowed to meet for drinks and dining in outdoor venues.

We can’t wait to see all the innovative new alfresco spaces our hotel partners have been busy creating during lockdown, so we thought we’d round up five of our favourites in the capital…

The Berkeley Beach Huts

Alfresco dining heads shoreside with the arrival of The Berkeley Beach Huts – five rainbow-coloured huts, inspired by Britain’s most iconic and foodie seafronts.

Serving up made-to-share seafood platters and freshly-shucked oysters, summer favourites are elevated to new heights. There’s fresh-off-the-boat lobster and fries, for a five-star twist on fish and chips. And in a trip down memory lane, there are ice-cream sandwiches and the Gourmet 99 – traditional soft serve vanilla ice cream cones, accompanied by indulgent flakes and an array of toppings.

Complete with retro-themed cocktails – think cherry shandies and a zesty ‘Sailor Sour’ – The Berkeley Beach Huts bring the Great British staycation to Belgravia. Open daily from 7.30am-10.30am for ‘Seaside Benedicts’, then from 12pm until late, the Beach Huts offer private dining for up to six guests – with terrace and countertop dining providing further seating options.

The Dorchester Rooftop

Rooftop dining will reach new heights this Spring with The Dorchester’s first ever rooftop restaurant and bar. Open from 12 April, the new space offers stunning views over Hyde Park and central London – the perfect spot for sipping sundowners while catching up with colleagues and friends.

The Dorchester Rooftop will be host to a series of al fresco culinary pop-ups led by executive chef Mario Perera, featuring a British summertime menu by Tom Booton, followed by modern and informal French dining by Jean-Philippe Blondet. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with a lounge area to relax with a cocktail, glass of Champagne or a cigar.

From 12 April to 25 April, head chef at The Grill at The Dorchester, Tom Booton will introduce a British inspired menu showcasing locally sourced produce. Highlights from Tom’s land, sea and garden menu concept include: Ribeye with mushrooms and tarragon; prawn scotch egg with curry sauce; and barbequed leeks with ricotta and salsa verde.

Further pop-ups including live music, will be announced.

Kerridge's Garden Grill

From one pop-up to another, The Corinthia London has been working with Chef Tom Kerridge and the Kerridge’s Bar & Grill team to bring a new outdoor dining experience to the luxury property this April.

For a limited time, this new pop-up restaurant sits on a mezzanine garden surrounding the glass dome atop the Baccarat chandelier. In this never-before seen space, Head Chef Nick Beardshaw will serve seasonal dishes from an open grill, including Grilled Whole Lobster with herb butter; Cornish Day Boat Turbot with seaweed tartare sauce; and a debut Beef Burger with Oglesheild cheese and pulled pork.

Laurent Perrier Brut, Rosé and Grand Siècle all served by the glass, alongside Marlow brewery’s Rebellion Lager will be on offer.

The Wigmore Summer Terrace and Garden

The Langham, London has announced that The Wigmore Summer Terrace and Garden is opening on Monday 12th April. The five-star property has cleverly connected the terrace of its gastropub The Wigmore with the hotel’s courtyard garden area to form one large dining area, all covered with vines and hanging baskets – creating the ultimate city garden.

It’ll be the perfect place to relax over a refreshing cool drink on a warm Spring day, with the bar serving everything from Hendricks Gin and Tonics, to Provence Rosé, all accompanied by food overseen by Michel Roux Jr.

Dishes will include well-loved Wigmore classics such as the XXL cheese toastie ever-popular Masala spiced scotch egg and new additions including the buttered lobster roll, served with buttermilk onion rings.

The Coral Garden at The Bloomsbury

Adjacent to the hotel’s famed Dalloway Terrace, The Coral Garden is an intimate, sheltered setting - providing the ideal alfresco space to reconnect with friends and family, clients or colleagues in Central London. In-line with Government guidelines, the space will be available from 17 April for receptions for up to 15 guests and from 17 May for small events of up to 20 guests (maximum capacity).

Complete with a modern gazebo covering and heaters, The Coral Garden is also equipped with botanical canopy and cosy fireplace for when the evening draws in. The hotel’s events team can tailor each experience to the needs of guests; from a carefully curated afternoon tea to a five-course feast with cocktails and canapés.
